FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method and device for charging a high-value capacitor capable of storing energy, for example, used to drive electromagnets in downhole tools, is provided. An electric generator, which can be driven by the flow of drilling mud, produces a rectified voltage proportional to the frequency of its rotation. The rectified voltage is applied to a nonsymmetrical DC voltage converter on inductance coils, which in turn charges the high-value capacitor when the voltage on the large capacitor drops to a value that is between the predetermined upper and lower values.
EFFECT: incase of the high-value capacitor discharge, the logic control circuit also initiates the termination of charging by the capacitor converter of a high-value in order to improve the efficiency and performance of the circuit, a storage battery can provide charging of a high-value capacitor through the current limiter, and a cutoff circuit prevents the storage battery of the high-value capacitor from charging when the generator charges the high-value capacitor through the converter.
