FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optics, in particular to screens (coatings) with controlled scattering properties, and can be used for the production of glasses, films and coatings with controlled transparency, used in production of windows, demonstration screens, glasses, etc. Screen with controlled transparency is a layer of a transparent matrix with dispersed particles, where the matrix material and the material of the dispersed particles are characterized by different optical properties. Optically anisotropic material having two refractive indices ne and n0 is used as a matrix material, and transparent optically isotropic material having a refractive index nb is used as a material of the dispersed particles. In this case, nb = n0, and the optical axis of the anisotropic matrix material is chosen parallel to the plane of the screen surface.
EFFECT: technical result is providing a controlled transparency based on a combination of isotropic and anisotropic optical materials without the need for an electric field.
