FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to motor vehicles, in particular to a method for improving the operation of the start-stop system of the vehicle engine. Method for controlling the start and stop of engine 10 of vehicle 5 comprises the steps of changing the lower limit of the Ll clutch pedal threshold value between the upper value LlR and the lower value LlS during the change in the operating mode of engine 10 from the normal operation mode to the stopped state. Lower limit Ll and the upper limit Lu specify the operating range for the variable threshold Th1 of the clutch pedal position. If the clutch pedal crosses the variable threshold value Th1 due to moving vehicle 5 clutch pedal 25 by the driver, which causes changing the normal operation mode of engine 10 depending on the direction of clutch pedal 25 movement.
EFFECT: technical result is reducing the fuel consumption and decreasing harmful emissions by reducing the number of missed opportunities for the engine shutdown.
