FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to motor vehicles and, in particular, to motor vehicle engine stop and start control method. Result is achieved by the fact that there is proposed method of stopping and starting engine 10 of motor vehicle 5 having a manual clutch system 50, including clutch 2 for connecting engine 10 with the possibility of driving transmission 11. First and second clutch release D_P, D_R threshold values are set for use in engine 10 shutdown and start-up control. First threshold value D_P corresponds to the more decoupled state of adhesion 2, than the second threshold value D_R of disengagement. First threshold value D_P is used at switched off clutch 2 to decide whether engine 10 can be safely plugged while transmission 11 stays on gear, and second threshold value D_R is used with engaged clutch 2 to decide whether engine 10 can be is safely started, while transmission 11 stays on gear. By using a less conservative threshold value D_R for starting engine 10 than for stopping engine 10, the number of forbidden restarts is reduced, thereby improving driver satisfaction.
EFFECT: technical result is higher fuel economy and reduced emissions.
