FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for obtaining the laser pulse generation includes obtaining the generation by means of pumping the active element with a power greater than the threshold one, regulating the generation by the q-modulator, generating the pulses of radiation by the position of the active element relative to the axis of the resonator. The generation pulses are formed by choosing the optimal angle α between the normal of the active element faces relative to the axis of the resonator, which should be more than arctg(d/l) of the value of beam diameter d to the length l of the active element and less than arctg(D/l) of the values of the active element diameter D to the length l. When nanosecond pulses are generated at a single frequency and a longitudinal mode of the resonator, the normal of the active element faces is aligned with the optical axis of the resonator, in other cases one / zug picosecond pulses are obtained.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of generating a laser pulse of the nanosecond or picosecond duration or a zug of pulses with a given moment of their emission.
