FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the preparation of a tantalum powder. Method involves activation of the tantalum ingot by heating it to 700–900 °C and hydrogenation in a hydrogen atmosphere at an excess pressure of 0.01–0.3 MPa using as the hydrogen source the saturated hydride of the intermetallic compound LaNi4Co, grind of the synthesized tantalum hydride to a predetermined degree of dispersion and dehydrogenation of the obtained powder, TaHx in two stages. First, TaHx powder being dehydrogenated is heated to 800–850 °C and the major part of the liberated hydrogen is absorbed by using an unsaturated hydride of the intermetallic compound LaNi4Co as a sorbent, then the temperature is raised to 850–900 °C and the residual portion of hydrogen is absorbed using preactivated and degassed LaNi4Co. It is possible to obtain a tantalum powder with a hydrogen content of less than 0.05 % by weight.
EFFECT: obtaining a tantalum powder.
