FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic composition for selective dimerization of alkenes for production of α-olefins comprising inert hydrocarbon solvent containing titanate of formula Ti(OR)4 dissolved therein, wherein R is same or different and each R denotes alkyl group or aryl group, and organoaluminum compound of formula AlnR'3n, where n is 1 or 2 and R' are same or different and each R′ denotes hydrogen, hydrocarbon or halogen; and catalyst modifier selected from silicate, silane, fluorine-containing hydrocarbon or their combination, wherein molar ratio of organoaluminum compound to any alkene, contained in catalyst composition, is greater than 1. Invention also relates to process of preparing inventive catalyst composition and method of producing α-olefin.
EFFECT: technical result consists in development of methods for obtaining α-olefins with long catalyst lifetimes, high specificity, short initiation times, and reduced polymer formation.
