FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an escalator (1) or a travolator having two entrance areas (2, 3), respectively, with a comb plate (12) and a transportation section (4) arranged between the entrance areas (2, 3). Transportation section (4) extends along its length between both plates (12) of the entrance areas (2, 3) comb. On at least one side of the escalator (1) or the travolator at least one protrusion (19, 33, 119) is located protruding into at least one transportation section (4) protruding part. At least one control sensor (21) is located at least in part in at least one protrusion (19, 33, 119). On the protrusion a protrusion masking device is located protruding into the transportation area. Said design is used in the escalator upgrade method and in the escalator operation method.
EFFECT: inventions provide an improvement in the ease of use of the escalator.
