SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the transmission of digital information over a multipath channel and can be used in communication systems to ensure the correct reception of the transmitted information. To this end, the method includes generating, on the transmitting side, an information signal as a sequence of symbols, consisting of a sequence of tone pulses transmitted consecutively in time on frequency-spaced subcarriers, the number of which corresponds to the number of time positions for a single symbol duration, and the frequencies of all the subcarriers corresponding to the symbol belong to such a frequency range that the whole sequence of tone pulses constituting this symbol is processed on the receiving side as one tone pulse with a duration equal to the symbol duration.

EFFECT: increasing the stability of the channel for transmitting discrete messages (increasing the coefficient of effective operation of communication channels) subject to selective fading, without complicating communication equipment and without the associated increase in energy consumption.
