FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fuel system for an internal combustion engine and a method for reducing pressure fluctuations in a fuel filter device in a fuel system. Fuel system (4) is proposed for internal combustion engine (2), comprising: first fuel tank (20), fuel filter device (12) disposed between low-pressure pump (22) driven by electric motor and high-pressure pump (14), first fuel line (24) for supplying fuel therethrough by means of low pressure pump (22) to fuel filter device (12) and control device (26) connected to electric motor (M1) driving low pressure pump (22). There is also an overflow conduit (56) connected to deaeration outlet pipe (54) located in fuel filter device (12) and first fuel tank (20), where control device (26) is configured to control electric motor (M1) in a such way that low pressure pump (22) is activated, when internal combustion engine (2) is turned off for some limited period, whereby fuel can flow from fuel filter device (12) through deaerating outlet (54) and overflow line (56) back to first fuel tank (20).
EFFECT: technical result is a reduction in the pressure fluctuations in the fuel filter device of the fuel system.
