FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: proposed group of inventions relates to a flotation depressant reagent, which is used for flotation of iron ore, so that the iron content in flotation waste is reduced in accordance with the current standards. Method for manufacturing iron ore flotation depressant comprises the following steps: a) mixing sugarcane residues with water and preparing the first mixture; b) adding sodium hydroxide to the first mixture at a weight ratio of sugarcane and sodium hydroxide residues ranging from 6:1 to 10:1, and preparing the second mixture; c) holding-up; d) introduction of additional water and e) mixing. Sugarcane residues are used as a component of iron ore flotation depressant.

EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the efficiency of flotation, as well as a decrease in the iron content in flotation waste.
