FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to distribution of software updates. Method for generating a list of update agents is disclosed to ensure the distribution of software updates on a network in which: a) use network administration server to assign a unique identifier to each end node of the network; b) by means of security application installed on the end node of the network, a broadcast is broadcast, the broadcast containing the identifier; c) using security application installed on the final node of the network, send to the network administration server data containing the criteria characterizing the said end node of the network, and set of broadcast identifiers obtained from other end nodes of the network, number of identifiers in said set is limited to a threshold value; d) using network administration server, create a table of broadcast network records based on the data received from each security application, containing set of identifiers of other end nodes of the network, while the broadcast domain is a network segment containing at least three end nodes of the network, and record of each broadcast domain in the table contains the identifiers of the end nodes of the network of the network segment that are visible to each other, with the two end nodes of the network being considered visible to each other, if network administration server has received the identifier of the third end node of the network from the first end node of the network and the identifier of the third end node of the network from the second end node of the network; e) using network administration server based on the received data, containing criteria characterizing the end nodes of the network, form a list containing update agent identifiers for each broadcast domain, where update agent is the final node of the broadcast domain network whose identifier is contained in the record of the generated table about broadcast network domains, intended to distribute updates to other end nodes of the network within the broadcast domain.

EFFECT: technical result consists in forming a list of update agents to ensure distribution of software updates across the network.
