APPARATUS, METHOD AND CATALYST FOR THE DRYING AND PURIFICATION OF A GASEOUS RAW HYDROCARBON FROM HYDROGEN SULFIDE AND MERCAPTANS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC B01D53/14 B01D53/26 B01D53/48 B01D53/52 B01D53/86 B01J27/122 B01J27/128 B01J31/00

Abstract RU 2649444 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus, method and catalyst for the purification of a gaseous raw hydrocarbon from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans. Installation comprises a reactor filled with a hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans conversion catalyst, into sulfur and disulphides, respectively, in an absorbent solution, means for supplying a purified gaseous hydrocarbon feedstock and an oxygen-containing gas to the reactor, a means for withdrawing purified gas from the reactor, an outlet of a solution of sulfuric pulp from the reactor to a sulfur separation unit and regenerating the absorbent, while the sulfur separation and regeneration unit of the absorbent includes an apparatus for regenerating the absorbent and a sulfur removal unit from the unit, the absorbent regenerating means comprising removing water therefrom, followed by recycling the absorbent to the reactor, wherein the reactor design and the catalyst composition ensure the conversion of at least 99.99 % of hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans to sulfur and disulfides while absorbing the water to the required gas dehydration level. Catalyst is 0.0001–100 % solution of a mixture of iron and/or copper chlorides in the presence of solvating additives. Invention provides a one-stage purification and simultaneous purification of gaseous hydrocarbons simultaneously from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans to a residual content of -SH down to 0.001 ppm in the absence of toxic waste.

EFFECT: invention provides a one-stage purification of gaseous hydrocarbons simultaneously from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans.
