FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to polymer optical fibre, in particular to the production of end- and side-emitting focon type polymer optical fibre, wherein at one or both ends of polymer optical fibre of a certain length with a constant diameter there are focons which are integrated with the optical fibre and an installation for its production. Focon type polymer optical fibre is obtained using an apparatus consisting of a polymer feeding unit provided with a device for heating and melting polymers, then a melt of polymers with different refractive indices along individual channels is fed to a spinneret, through which layers of polymer with different refractive indices are formed. Further, the layers are forced through a die and, as a result, a polymer jet is obtained which, when cooled, is drawn into fibre by a pulling device. Pulling device enables to change the drawing speed to zero manually and automatically, which leads to change in fibre diameter. Fibre is directed to a cutting device, where fibre sections with a large diameter are cut and sections of the required length of the focon type polymer optical fibre with one or two focons, depending on its purpose are obtained.

EFFECT: technical result is a wider field of application of polymer optical fibre and improvement of the optical characteristics of the fibre.
