FIELD: laser engineering.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to laser technology. Method and apparatus are intended for convergence of laser beams of different wavelengths whose polarization states are orthogonal to the output beam. Polarizing beam splitter is used, which combines in space two beams in mutually orthogonal polarization states, and then directed to a set of birefringent plates that maintains the quality parameter of the laser beam M2. Thickness, material and orientation of the plates are provided by turning them around the normal to the direction of propagation of the beams by an angle of less than 30° tunable change in the state of polarization of one of the beams with respect to the other in such a way that the polarization state of the output beam becomes the same for all wavelengths of the output beam.
EFFECT: technical result is the development of a combined polarization spectrally selective optical scheme, suitable for convergence a practically unlimited number of individual laser beams to a common beam, while maintaining their polarization and spatial focusing.
