FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the technique of optical recording, namely to the technique of laser sounding and photoelectric registration of backward reflected radiation, mainly of fast processes, and allows to determine the mass characteristics of moving objects. Device for implementation of the moving objects characteristics determining method comprises at least one laser radiation source and at least one collimator, a contact screen of known mass and the object under investigation consecutively arranged in the course of laser radiation propagation, wherein the contact screen is mounted with the possibility of its movement towards the collimator due to interaction with the object under investigation flying on it. In addition, it contains one hardware-software complex for determining the speed of a moving object under study based on the Doppler shift frequency in the backward reflected radiation, in which the contact screen is made of a transparent material passing through itself a part of the laser radiation in the forward and reverse directions reflected from the object under study, hardware-software complex is based on the opto-heterodyne determination of a moving object speed according to the Doppler shift frequency in the back reflected radiation, contact screen specific weight is selected in the range of 1÷100 times greater than the investigated object specific weight, and the distance between the collimator and the contact screen is selected to be greater than or equal to the length of the longitudinal dimension of the object under study.
