FIELD: means of ensuring security; explosion works.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the asteroid hazard control within the framework of the physical processes and natural phenomena modeling technique. Method involves a micro-model (MM) making from a substance similar to an asteroid substance. In a vacuum chamber MM is exposed to pulsed laser radiation focused on its surface. Exposure time is selected to be much less than the time of the micro-model transverse dimension passing by the sound wave, and the laser spot diameter on the MM surface is much smaller than the MM transverse dimension. Carrying out several experiments, increasing the energy (Emod) effect on the MM mass (mmod) up to the destruction of the latter. Destructive impact on the asteroid (mmet mass) specific energy is determined by the formula: Emet/mmet = (Emod/mmod)/k, where k ~ 2 is the correction factor associated with differences in the energy absorption mechanisms at the initial stage in the natural and model cases.
EFFECT: determination of the guaranteed asteroid destruction by a nuclear explosion specific energy by the destruction process modeling based on the physical and geometric similarity principle.
