A method comprises the steps of: receiving a to be decoded polar code with the length of N, and divided into m sub-codes of the polar code that are coupled to each other, the length of each subcode being N / m, with N and m being integer powers of 2, and N > m; calculating squared Euclidean distances of the input bits in m sub-codes to obtain the minimum squared Euclidean distances of the input bits, that are independent to each other; respectively, obtaining the minimum squared Euclidean distances of input bits coupled to each other in the m subcodes; and receiving input bits that are coupled in m sub-codes giving the independent minimum squared Euclidean distances and the combined minimum squared Euclidean distance, and obtaining the result of decoding the polar code, which must be decoded, with reference to the relationship between the m subcodes of the polar code and to be decoded polar code.

EFFECT: technical result is a reduction in the decoding complexity.
