FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to wireless communication and can be used for soft decoding of polar codes. Method comprises steps of: receiving a plurality of transmissions associated with a given set of information bits, each of the plurality of transmissions using its polar code and sharing one or more information bits from said predetermined set of information bits; determining, in each of a plurality of polar decoders of a communication node, soft information for each information bit included in a transmission associated with said decoder from said plurality of transmissions, wherein each of the plurality of polar decoders is associated with its transmission from said plurality of transmissions; providing, from each polar decoder of said plurality of polar decoders to one or more other polar decoders from said plurality of decoders, determined soft information for any information bits shared by respective associated transmissions; and using the supplied soft information during iterative decoding to decode one or more transmissions from the received plurality of transmissions.

EFFECT: technical result is provision of decoding rate compatible polar codes.
