SUBSTANCE: shield-shaped side-wall protection element (I) for protecting the sidewall of the vehicle tire (3) comprises a radially inner base (6), an outer edge (11), which forms the radially outer end (2) and which extends in a circumferential direction (U), and a shield segment (5), which extends from the outer edge (11) at least to the base (6). Outer edge (11) is at least partially offset axially inward from the base (6). In addition, the protective device comprises a plurality of shield-shaped side-wall protection elements (1) arranged overlapping in the manner of shingles in a circumferential direction (U).
EFFECT: technical result is optimization of tire sidewall protection.
