SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustic methods of the water area illumination. Sonar method of detecting underwater objects in a controlled water area, where the water area is successively irradiated with sounding signals, echo signals from objects with a static fan of the directional characteristics are received, filtered, all received echoes in all spatial directions are stored, an interference is determined and a threshold is selected, in each spatial channel, the amplitudes of the echoes are compared with the threshold and the amplitude of the threshold excess and the time of threshold excess are determined, the peak amplitude of the reference, exceeding the threshold, is determined, the time difference between the echoes over several successive radiations is determined, the radial speed of the object over several cycles radiation-reception is determined and the estimate stability of the radial speed on the observation interval and according to the measured parameters the class of the detected object is determined.
EFFECT: invention of the development of sonar stations for lightning the undersea in the water area.
