FIELD: acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: use for automatically obtain characteristics of an echo signal contained in an ultrasonic signal. Core of the invention is implementation of the following stages: receiving data corresponding to an ultrasonic signal using an ultrasonic transducer; calculating the ratio of energies of the ultrasonic signal and localizing an echo signal contained in the ultrasonic signal using the ratio of the energies; framing a portion of the ultrasonic signal around the localized echo signal; calculating the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and the Hilbert envelope for the framed portion of the ultrasonic signal; estimating M vectors of the echo signal parameters from the FFT and the Hilbert envelope for the framed portion of the ultrasonic signal, herewith each of the M echo signal parameter vectors includes a plurality of the echo signal parameters; calculating M parametric models of the echo signal basing on each of the M vectors of the echo signal parameters; and iterative minimizing the difference between the framed portion of the ultrasonic signal and the sum of the M parametric models of the echo signal.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of obtaining more accurate echo signal parameters in the automatic mode.
