SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the technology of receiving/transmitting image data. Transmission device is disclosed. Device comprises a processing unit, a transmitting unit, an information inserting unit. Processing unit is configured to perform reduction of the number of gradations for image data to generate image data with a reduced number of gradations. Transmitting unit is configured to transmit a container including a video stream including image data with a reduced number of gradations. Information inserting unit is configured to insert information related to the banding suppression processing for the image data with a reduced number of gradations into the video stream, wherein said information includes first information indicating whether banding suppression processing is to be applied to image data with a reduced number of gradations included in the video stream.
EFFECT: technical result is provision of insertion into a video stream of information related to banding suppression processing for image data.
