FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: use for ultrasonic diagnostics of vertically oriented defects in the object of control with an edge of the surface. Clue of invention is that the direct radiated transducer and the receiving transducer are located on the edge connected sides of the control object. Object is sounded by the radiating transducer at an angle of 90° to the input surface. At the same time the defect is irradiated with the bulk ultrasonic (US) waves. Recorded by the receiving transducer, three-dimensional US waves transformed at the edges of the defect or defect and the edges of the surface of the test object. Presence and characteristics of the defect are judged by the amplitude and arrival time of the transformed waves.
EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of completely eliminating the "dead" control zones, increasing the continuity of control and reducing the probability of missing defects while monitoring in motion at speed.
