FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: defect is irradiated with a transverse ultrasonic wave along the normal to the surface of the test object. The Rayleigh wave generated thereby this is recorded on the surface of the test object. The size of the defect is judged from the magnitude of the Rayleigh wave amplitude.
EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of reliable detection of vertically oriented defects without restrictions on the control depth.
