FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and can be used for remote measurement of the velocity of a current-carrying plasma in a magnetoplasma electrodynamic accelerator. Method is based on the excitation in the accelerator rail system of high-frequency electric oscillations during the plasma motion, herewith a resonance of currents is created in the section of internal ballistics of the accelerator rail system, resonance cyclic frequency ω(t) is continuously measured, and plasma velocity ν(t) is determined as per the formula: where: t is time, , L is equivalent inductance of the accelerator power source, b is linear inductance of the rail, l is the length of the rail, C is the exemplary unit of measurement that is the capacitor volume used, which is connected in parallel to the rail grounded at one end.

EFFECT: technical result is the measurement of the instantaneous plasma velocity and an increase in the safety level of the measuring devices operation implemented on the basis of the proposed method.
