FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of aluminum producing by cryolite-alumina melt electrolysis. Method comprises loading the oxide-salt mixture containing cryolite, aluminic oxide, aluminic, calcium and magnesium fluorides, as well as metallic aluminum, during the start-up period of the electrolysis cell and conducting electrolysis in the electrolyte melt after the start-up period, while the loaded oxide-salt mixture contains (wt. %): magnesium fluoride (MgF2) – up to 1.5, calcium fluoride (CaF2) – 6.0–10.0, aluminum fluoride (AlF3) – up to 8.0, aluminum oxide (Al2O3) – up to 4.0, cryolite (Na3AlF6th) the rest, and after the period of starting the cell, there the correcting salt additives: potassium fluoride (KF) – up to 5 % by weight, aluminum fluoride (AlF3) – up to 10 % by weight, lithium fluoride (LiF) – up to 3 % of the weight of the oxide-salt mixture loaded into the cell.
EFFECT: ensure the acceleration of the formation of a dimensionally stable garnisage and the bottom of the carcass during the start-up period of the electrolytic cell, while maintaining the physicochemical properties of the deposited electrolyte in the electrolytic cell, the decrease in the fraction of heat losses during the electrolysis of the loaded molten mixture, and an increase in the productivity of the process and the life of the electrolysis cells.
