FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy and can be used in preparation of Al-Zr ligature by an electrochemical method suitable for industrial production. As zirconium source, zirconium oxide is used which is mixed with a salt mixture containing alumina, followed by melting the resulting mixture in an electrolysis cell, molten oxide-salt mixture containing zirconium and aluminum ions is subjected to electrolysis at a cathode current density of 0.20–0.75 A/cm2 and a temperature of 700–950 °C using a liquid aluminum cathode, the electrolysis is subjected to an oxide-salt mixture containing, by weight: potassium fluoride (KF) up to 56, sodium fluoride (NaF) up to 50, aluminum fluoride (AlF3) 40–62, aluminum oxide (Al2O3) to 4 and zirconium oxide (ZrO2) to 2.5.
EFFECT: invention allows to obtain by electrochemical method an Al-Zr ligature with a zirconium content of up to 15 % by weight, by increasing the rate of electrolysis.
