SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to otolaryngology, and can be used to treat chronic tonsillitis and pharyngitis. Perform selective ablation of pathologically altered tissue of the tonsils and/or pharyngeal mucosa by radiation from pulsed-periodic CO₂ laser. Pulse duration is from 1 to 5 mcs, the scanning speed is from 1 to 10 mm/s. In the presence of hypertrophic granulosity, loosening, hyperemia of the mucosa in the presence of microbial and/or mycotic biofilms, ablation is performed at a pulse repetition rate of 5 Hz and pulse energy of 20 mJ. In the presence of fibrotic changes in the mucosa, ablation is carried out at a pulse repetition rate of 10 Hz, with pulse energy of 30 mJ.

EFFECT: method provides a reduction in the pain syndrome during procedure, a decrease in the reactive changes in the mucosa, preservation of the lymphoid parenchyma of the tonsils and the posterior pharyngeal wall, and also eliminates the risk of damage to large vessels, nerve trunks and the development of the scar process after treatment by removing only the pathological structures of the mucosa with the preservation of the basal zones of its growth.
