FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: parathonsillar injection of 0.9% sodium chloride solution of 5-10 ml volume or local anesthetic solution in the same volume. In the absence of artificial illumination, the end of a silicon fiber with the red Holmium (Ho: YAG) laser pilot turned on is immersed in the infiltrated fabric. When a parathonsillar space of contrasting tonsillar vessels of dark red colour is revealed on the background of soft tissues, laser coagulation of this area with a holmium laser is performed before performing bilateral tonsillectomy.
EFFECT: method allows to reduce the risk of intra- and postoperative complications due to intraoperative visualization of the vessels of palatine tonsils and paratonzillar space using holmium laser radiation.
