FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an effective method for removing aromatic impurities from an alkene stream, in particular to a process of producing a chemical composition comprising aromatic compound α in a weight concentration B based on the total weight of the chemical composition, comprising a. providing the following reaction components: i. a chemical composition containing the following: a) aromatic compound α with a weight concentration A based on the total weight of the chemical composition and b) an olefin in an amount of about 50 to about 99.99 wt% based on the total weight of the chemical composition, wherein the olefin b) is C4-C10 olefin, and ii. an acid, wherein the acid contains Lewis acid; and b. reacting the components to produce a chemical composition comprising aromatic compound α at a concentration B based on the total weight of the chemical composition; where concentration B is less than concentration A.

EFFECT: invention also relates to a process for producing a post-processing product comprising (i) obtaining an alkene by the above method and (ii) reacting the alkene to obtain a post-processing product.
