FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding and can be used for the construction of ships: both sports and entertainment ships, and cargo ships (for example, tankers) using wind energy for their movement. On a ship with several Flettner rotor propulsion units mounted on it with the purpose of using the head wind energy for the movement, each of the rotors is mechanically connected to a hydrodynamic element immersed in water, having the shape of an airplane wing. Rotors have the possibility of a lateral inclination with respect to the longitudinal axis of the vessel, with a change in the rotation direction to the opposite in the lowermost position.
EFFECT: ships equipped with such a propulsion unit can fully utilize wind energy, regardless of its direction.
