SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a piece of furniture, in particular to a bed or mattress designed to receive the weight of a user, and is aimed at improving the reliability of the adjustment degree of firmness of the piece of furniture. Piece of furniture comprises a holding arrangement and a section comprising a base, a movable plate element, a moving mechanism, and an elastic device. Plate element is designed to interact with the elastic device and to move the moving mechanism relative to the base, in order to adjust the degree of firmness of the elastic device. Elastic device comprises a pocket, made of fabric, and an elastic member which is arranged within said pocket. Pocket is attached to adjacent pockets. Said attachment is formed so that the elastic devices may move independently from one another along a distance as measured from the free end of the elastic device and perpendicular to the plate element. holding arrangement comprises a connecting portion and a holding member, which is attached to the base of the plate element and is connected to the elastic device by means of the connecting portion, so that the elastic element is compressible and expandable throughout the length while the plate member is moved up and down.
EFFECT: holder is a flexible thread or twine, which is directly connected to each connecting portion.
