SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical measuring equipment. Optical sensor unit for measuring concentration of a gas comprises a sensing layer adapted to be irradiated with a predetermined radiation; a gas-permeable layer adjacent to one side of the sensing layer and adapted to pass gas which concentration is to be measured through the gas-permeable layer towards the sensing layer. Removable protective layer covers the gas-permeable layer and is adapted to be removed before use of the optical sensor unit. Optical sensor unit is adapted to measure an optical response of the sensing layer. Contact medium is located between the gas-permeable layer and the removable protective layer. Contact medium is a gel or liquid and has the ability to control the water content of the gas-permeable and/or sensing layer. Method for measuring gas concentration and a monitoring system are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result consists in simplifying the measurement of gas concentration.
