SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of manufacturing an oxide catalyst for use in preparation of an unsaturated nitrile, wherein the oxide catalyst comprises a metal component represented by following formula (1): Mo1VaSbbNbcWdZeOn... (1), in which component Z is at least one element selected from group consisting of La, Ce, Pr, Yb, Y, Sc, Sr and Ba; a, b, c, d and e represent atomic relationships of each element and satisfy the conditions 0.10 ≤ a < 0.20, 0.15 ≤ b ≤0.30, 0.010 ≤ c ≤ 0.50, 0 < d ≤ 0.40 and 0 < e ≤0.20. Said method includes: (a) preparing an aqueous mixed liquid (A) containing Mo, V and Sb, and optionally starting W-containing material and/or starting Z-containing material; (b) mixing aqueous mixed liquid (A), a carrier component and starting Nb-containing material, and optionally initial W-containing material and/or starting Z-containing material, at temperature of 20°C or more and 80°C or less to produce aqueous mixed liquid (B); (c) drying aqueous mixed liquid (B) to obtain a dried powder and step (d) calcining the dried powder to produce an oxide catalyst in which aqueous mixed liquid (B) has a solid metal component concentration of 2.0 to 8.0 weight% , and provided that W-containing material is added to the mixture in at least one of steps (a) and (b) and Z-containing material is added to the mixture in at least one of steps (a) and (b). Also described is a process for producing unsaturated nitrile using an oxide catalyst prepared by the above method.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide simplified production of an oxide catalyst that provides a higher yield of the unsaturated nitrile, without the need for introducing complicated stages and modifications of the equipment.
