SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the continuous casting of pipes in installations of the vertical type. Liquid metal enters the gap between the water-cooled crystallizer (5) and the mandrel (1) from the bowl (3), which is installed on the crystallizer. Partition wall (4) is fixed on the bowl, it is located between the crystallizer and the mandrel, where the cavity between the crystallizer and the partition is connected to the gas supply source. Level of liquid metal between the partition and the crystallizer is maintained by the gas pressure, which is created above it.
EFFECT: improved quality of the cast blank is provided due to the organization of the continuous laminar flow of liquid metal.
