FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method for producing the low porous boron carbide based material with the porosity of 1–2 % at a reduced (below 1,000 °C) sintering temperature. Material can be used for the manufacturing of plates for bulletproof vests, as well as various components of products that require high hardness at high temperatures. Method of production includes impact on boron carbide by means of pressure and temperature, while hydrogen sulphide CS2 is added to the boron carbide, and the impact is carried out at the temperature of 800–1,000 °C and at the pressure of 2–5 GPa.
EFFECT: method for producing the ceramic material based on boron carbide is proposed.
