FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly to a method of producing boron-carbon composite material. Method involves mechanical treatment in a planetary mill of a mixture of amorphous boron powders with particle size of less than 2 mcm and fullerite C60 with particle size of less than 200 mcm, which are taken in ratio from 1:5 to 5:1, with addition of methyl or ethyl alcohol in amount of 1 ml per 1 g of mixture in mode 900–1,200 rpm for 10–30 minutes to obtain a homogeneous state, extraction of mixture from mill, drying mixture in air at temperature 100 °C for 2 hours and exposing the mixture to pressure within 1.5–2.5 GPa and a temperature in range of 900 to 1,100 °C for 60–120 minutes.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain boron-carbon composite material with high elasticity of more than 50 % while maintaining sufficiently high hardness of about 10 GPa on the Vickers scale and density of not less than 95 %.
