SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an atomiser for an aerosol delivery device, which comprises a liquid transport element extending between a first end of a liquid transport element and a second end of a liquid transport element, and a wire extending along the liquid transport element and forming a heating element comprising a plurality of wire turns forming a heating portion, wherein the wire continuously extends along the liquid transport element from the first end of the liquid transport element to the second end of the liquid transport element, wherein said wire turns in the heating portion have a variable pitch that is greatest in a plurality of outer sections and is smallest in the central section located between said outer sections, or the wire extends between the first and second wire ends, extending at least partially through the liquid transport element at one or both of said wire ends.
