FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an abradable coating for a gas turbine engine. Gas turbine engine having an abradable coating on the inner surface of the stator comprises at least one stator component inside or opposite of which a rotor part is rotatably mounted, wherein said coating of abradable material forms an element of a sealing connection between the stator and rotor parts. Coating of abradable material is made in the form of a layer of abradable material, asperities on the surface of which are filled with thermally bonded ceramic grains. Smooth free surface of the layer of abradable material has a roughness below 6 mcm. Method for applying an abradable coating to the inner surface of a stator of a gas turbine engine comprises obtaining a layer of abradable material on the inner surface of the stator part of said gas turbine engine, filling asperities on the surface of the abradable coating on the stator part by applying a powder of a ceramic material and heat treating said coating layer to bind the powder.
EFFECT: coating is provided from an abradable material having a porous structure whose surface has a roughness below 6 mcm.
