SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a reproduction method and a reproducing device. Reproducing device is proposed, that reproduces data, stores coded data of the extended video, that is a video having a second brightness range, that is wider, than a first brightness range, brightness characteristic information, that represents the brightness characteristics of the extended video, and information on brightness conversion parameters, used when performing the brightness conversion of the extended video to the brightness of a standard video, that is a video, having the first brightness range. Reproducing device decodes the coded data and converts the extended video obtained as a result of decoding the coded data, to the standard video on the basis of information on the brightness conversion parameters. Data of the extended video and the brightness characteristic information are transmitted to a display device, configured to display the extended video, and data of the standard video is transmitted to the display device that is not able to display the extended video.

EFFECT: technical result is to provide the ability to reproduce the content with an appropriate brightness.
