SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to produce desulphurised diesel fuel at low pressure and high cetane rating. Method for producing diesel fuel comprises hydrotreating a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock with hydrogen in a hydrotreating reactor over a hydrotreating catalyst, stripping light gases from said hydrotreated stream to provide a stripped hydrotreated stream, saturating aromatic compounds in said stripped hydrotreated stream to produce a saturated stream, stripping light gases from said saturated stream to provide a stripped saturated stream and fractionating said stripped saturated stream to produce a diesel stream. Diesel fuel production unit comprises a hydrotreating reactor for hydrotreating a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock to produce a hydrotreated stream, a first stripping section in communication with said hydrotreating reactor for stripping light gases from said hydrotreated stream, a saturation reactor in communication with said first stripping section for saturating aromatic compounds, a second stripping section in communication with said saturation reactor for stripping light gases from a saturated stream, and a fractionation column in communication with said second stripping section.
EFFECT: technical result is production of commercial diesel fuel with reduced sulphur content and higher cetane rating.
