FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to technology of obtaining aluminum alloys, and can be used to produce electrical products that are capable of operating at elevated temperatures. Method for producing a rod of a heat-resistant aluminum alloy containing zirconium as a main alloying element in an amount of 0.20–0.52 wt% comprises preparing a melt, production of a cast billet of an infinite length by crystallization of the melt, the production of a rod of infinite length by hot deformation of the cast billet, winding the wire rod into coils of measured length, thermal processing of the wire rods by heating and holding at a given temperature, crystallization of the melt is carried out at a temperature of 5 °C above the liquidus temperature of the alloy, the maximum rod temperature after hot deformation is maintained at a level of not more than 300 °C, thermal treatment of the wire rods is carried out at a heating temperature not exceeding 415 °C for no more than 144 hours, while heating the coils in the temperature range 300–400 °C is carried out at a speed of no higher than 15 °C/hour.
EFFECT: increase in thermal stability of aluminum-based alloy while providing the required electrical conductivity, achieved without the use of long time exposures during heat treatment.
