FIELD: electrical communication engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for processing a random access preamble. Method comprises steps of: determining, on the basis of the coverage radius of a cell, protective period (GT) that is needed when user equipment (UE) communicates with a base station, where the coverage radius of the cell is greater than 100 km; and, determining, on the basis of the GT, the random access preamble transmitted by the UE to the base station, where the random access preamble is transmitted by means of a special subframe and at least one standard subframe in a radio frame when the UE and the base station are communicating.
EFFECT: technical result consists in providing a larger coverage radius of a single cell.
