SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engine control device and method. Result is achieved in that the control device includes a feedback controller that determines the magnitude of the operation of the actuator by means of closed-loop control, so that the actual value of the quantitative state parameter becomes closer to the target value, and the reference controller, which modifies the target value, so that the amount of change in the quantitative state parameter per unit time is equal to or less than the upper limit value β. Reference controller calculates the modified target value by adding 2ζβ/ ω n and β/ { ( T 2 / T 1 ) T 2 / ( T 1 T 2 ) ( T 2 / T 1 ) T 1 / ( T 1 T 2 ) } with the current value of the quantitative state parameter (ζ, ωn: attenuation coefficient, natural frequency of angular vibrations of the model formula in the case, when the dynamic characteristic of a system with a closed contour is modeled as the dead time plus a second-order oscillatory system, T1, T 2 = ω n 1 ( ζ± ( ζ 2 1 ) ) 1 ), and determines the smaller of the modified target value and the original target value as the final target value of the state quantity parameter.

EFFECT: technical result is that the computational load applied to the control device that performs the calculation in real time using the predictive model, decreases, and modification of the target value can be performed accurately.
