SUBSTANCE: invention relates to improving carbon capture and/or improving the efficiency of methods involving microbiological fermentation of a substrate containing carbon dioxide, obtained from an industrial source. Disclosed is a method of producing one or more products, which are alcohols and/or carboxylic acids, by means of microbiological fermentation of flow(s) of smoke or exhaust gas containing CO from steel production. Steel production process includes decarburising stage performed in oxygen converter. Gas flow from steel production process contains 43–50 % of CO, 17–20 % of CO2, 2–3 % of H2 and 27–34% of N2. This gas stream(s) is fed into a bioreactor containing a culture of carboxydotrophic bacteria Clostridium autoethanogenum DSMZ 19630 in a liquid nutrient medium. Culture is fermented to produce the target product.
EFFECT: invention enables to carry out fermentation of smoke or exhaust gases obtained directly from production processes of a steel plant, using bacteria Clostridium autoethanogenum DSMZ 19630 resistant to pollutants and minimizing the number of cleaning and/or other treatment steps that must be performed before fermentation.
