SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a container for an electrical or optical conductor, the use of a gas permeable, refractory and preferably mechanically flexible or resilient sheath and to a kit for making a cable bond or cable joint. Container comprises insulation (102) which is made of an insulating material filled with a flame retardant that can be mounted on conductor (100), so that it at least partially surrounds it. Outer shell (104) is also provided which is made of a gas-permeable, refractory material and which surrounds insulation (102) so that the insulation performance is maintained in the event of a fire for a certain period of time. In this case, the insulation layer and the outer shell layer are the only layers of the container. Invention also relates to an appropriate kit for making a cable bond or cable joint.

EFFECT: invention ensures the safe operation of the conductor over a long period of time.
