FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a catalyst for the upgrading of heavy oil feedstock of MoS2/MoO2, which is nanoparticles based on Mo-containing phases, formed "in situ" in the presence of water with a size of 4–330 nm, the MoS2 phase content of 5–82 wt%, coordination number of phases MoS2 and MoO2 3.0–5.0 and 4.0–6.0. Two options of the method for preparing a disperse catalyst are described. One of the option comprises the steps of: preparing an aqueous precursor solution of a catalyst – ammonium paramolybdate; obtaining an inverse emulsion of the aqueous precursor solution with a heavy oil feedstock by dispersing; formation of an active component from the emulsion under the conditions of the upgrading of heavy oil feedstocks in the presence of water at a temperature above 350 °C in a slurry flow reactor.
EFFECT: use of the proposed catalyst provides avoiding the drawbacks associated with instability of granular heterogeneous catalysts.
