FIELD: chemistry; metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallic coatings, in particular to the application of a surface coating to a composite article. Method for forming surface coating (256) on composite article (150) comprises applying thermal spraying (206, 236) to tool (300) surface (302) with the formation of surface coating (256) having releasable connection (226) to tool surface (302) and having total residual stress (250), which is substantially equivalent in magnitude to strength (224) of the adhesion of the coating to the tool. Method also includes applying composite material (156) over surface coating (256), curing composite material (156) to form cured composite article (150) and removing cured composite article (150) from tool (300) so as to separate surface coating (256) from tool surface (302) and leave surface coating (256) with cured composite product (150).
EFFECT: method of metallization in the form of composite structures is proposed.
