DIAGNOSIS OF RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIOUS DISEASE USING BLOOD SAMPLES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01N33/68

Abstract RU 2660352 C2

FIELD: measurement; testing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnosis, specifically to a method for diagnosing an infection of the lower respiratory tract associated with a bacterial infection. Disclosed is a method for diagnosing an infection of the lower respiratory tract associated with a bacterial infection in a subject in need thereof, comprising measuring sCD14-ST in a blood sample obtained from a subject; comparing the measured sCD14-ST level with the threshold value; differential diagnosis between bacterial and viral infections based on the measured level of sCD14-ST, wherein an increase in the measured level of sCD14-ST in comparison with said threshold value is an indicator of an infection of the lower respiratory tract associated with a bacterial infection, where said threshold value is 577 pg/ml. Disclosed are a method for selecting patients with an infection of the lower respiratory tract to receive an antibiotic, a method for determining time to stop the administration of an antibiotic to a patient with a lower respiratory infection receiving an antibiotic, and also a method for treating an infection of the lower respiratory tract associated with a bacterial infection.

EFFECT: above-described method makes it possible to effectively diagnose lower respiratory tract infections associated with a bacterial infection in a blood sample.
